Interview: NC Wong - The Cool Blogger
Nicole is cool and we know that we are not alone in that. She boasts 45k followers on Instagram only and she has promoted international brands, from Club 21 to Toni & Guy. She is a professional, punctual and has even prepared her looks prior to her Jakarta schedule with us. She is quite in love with the city's culture and she misses the party scene now and then, which is what her visit is all about this time.
Once asked how she feels to be interviewed by us, she said, "I feel so honored" while being dressed, "Nikicio has been my favorite brand ever since." See our interview with Nicole and see why we think she's undeniably a #nikiciocult.
Tell us about your work and how did you get started.
Over the years, in progress, I become more private. I do not talk a lot about my private life, but more about what inspires me, what I like. So I think from there, as I go, the blog goes as well. It’s a progression.
Tell us about your blog, about the concept.
The concept is, I do not want to show people pictures, but I want them, hopefully, to get inspired, to learn something. Like my blog, I tried to teach them about products, brands, that might not be available in Singapore, and expose them to a new brand, new products.
What motivates you to do your work?
What motivates me is, to be able to see people come alive, because I meet so many people in Singapore and overseas, and those people inspires me, Nina inspires me, the works that she do; so they inspires me. So I want to share their story to people as well.
What do you like the most about blogging?
The freedom and the voice. You can see anything and you can be whoever you want.
What/who is your favorite companion when you’re working/writing?
Friends, people I know, people I really respect.
Where/what is your favorite place/thing (music, film, etc) to get an inspiration?
I lock my self up alone, in a room, in a small table. On Instagram I see people around the world, they inspires me; their life, the things they do. The people I talked to, everyone inspires me. My story is pieces of everyone come together.
What is your favorite thing in your wardrobe?
My leather jacket.
If you’re told to wear only one kind of makeup, what will you choose (eye makeup/lip/blush/etc)? Why?
Fake eyelashes. Because I do an eyelashes extension, so I have them everyday.
If there’s a fire in your apartment, what will you save?
My two dogs.
What is the difference between styles in Singapore and Indonesia?
I’ve been here a lot. Indonesians are more grunge, and Singaporeans, a lot of them are more like high street. But here (Indonesia), you support local brands a lot more, I can see the support is stronger here compared to Singapore.
What does it take to be a #nikiciocult?
I think a Nikicio woman is a strong independent woman, who knows exactly what she wants and they know their style.
